Inpatient Unit

We provide 24-hour Specialist Palliative Care at our Inpatient Unit in Woodside Avenue, offering short-term admissions to address complex needs and/or care in the last days of life. Our aim is to help patients maintain their independence and dignity in a warm and supportive environment.

We offer support from our multi-disciplinary team which includes Doctors, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Specialist Physiotherapists, Palliative Care Patient and Family Support and Spiritual Care professionals.

All care is individually planned with patients and families, and we go to great lengths to ensure that your time with us is as comfortable as possible. As well as managing any physical symptoms that may be present, we also make sure that we focus on the wider needs of the individual, by offering support with spiritual and emotional needs as well practical issues.

We have a 24 hour open visiting policy for friends and family of all ages, and we only restrict visiting hours at the patient’s request.

If you would like to visit the Inpatient Unit, please call 0800 368 7848 to arrange an appointment so that we can show you around.

Current Visiting Policy

This is our current visiting policy for the Inpatient Unit (January 2024):

There are no restrictions to visiting hours on the Inpatient Unit and although there are no restrictions to the number of visitors a patient can have each day, we respectfully ask that more than 2-3 visitors are in a patient’s room at any one time.

There is no longer a mandatory requirement for staff and patients to wear facemasks in the Inpatient Unit or Outpatients and Wellbeing Services building in Enfield, however, should visitors or staff make the personal decision to still wear face masks these will be available.

We ask that you do not come to the hospice if you are feeling unwell, even if you have tested negative for Covid -19 and are fully vaccinated. If you have symptoms that suggest you may have a transmissible virus or infections such as an elevated temperature, cough, diarrhoea, or vomiting, then please do not come to the hospice.

Visiting process

When you arrive at the hospice, we will kindly ask you:

During your visit please:

  • Wash or gel your hands on leaving the patient’s room.
